Celebrating 7 years of KAAI with KAAIwoman Hannelore

7 Years, 7 Bags: A love story in leather

As we mark our KAAI anniversary, we asked Hannelore, long-time KAAIwoman and proud handbag lover, to reflect on her journey with the brand. Her story is a heartwarming tribute to what it means to grow alongside a bag that just carries your life.

“I spotted my first KAAI at work. My manager was carrying it: a Belgian brand, founded by women for women. I was instantly intrigued.”

Your first KAAI... can you recall the feeling?
My husband surprised me with it on my birthday. We went to Antwerp and he told me: “If you want, you can finally get that bag you’ve been dreaming about.” There wasn’t a doubt in my mind. My very first KAAI had to be the Pyramid.

"When I came home, I was so proud. I immediately took pictures and sent them to my friends. For at least a week, that bag was the centerpiece of our living room."

What KAAI memory always makes you smile?
I was at Maasmechelen Village with a friend, my Ikon bag by my side, when I spotted Princess Delphine at the next table. She caught me looking, noticed my bag, and smiled. I was starstruck and I’m convinced she recognized the brand, being so fashion-forward herself.

If each of your bags were a chapter in your life, what title would you give them?
Each bag represents a milestone: a birthday, the birth of my son, our wedding anniversary, or a career achievement. For me, it’s a way to capture a special moment and carry it with me every day.

The only rule: it has to be timeless. And a KAAI bag is the perfect answer to that.

How would you describe the KAAIwoman in three words?
Elegant – prepared – passionate.

Whether it’s a trip to the zoo with her 3-year-old or a fancy dinner, Hannelore’s KAAI bags adapt to her life — not the other way around.

“Sometimes I spend more time choosing my bag than my outfit.”

From carrying Paw Patrol figures to becoming her go-to stroller sidekick, each KAAI has proven to be more than just a pretty face. They’re practical, stylish, and always up for the challenge.

And if her bag could talk?

“Don’t worry, I got you covered.”

What does being part of the KAAIwomen community mean to you?
Whenever I see another woman carrying a KAAI, I always compliment her. It feels like a secret handshake — an instant bond.

“Founded by women for women, KAAI understands our daily balancing act. The bag’s thoughtful design supports work, family, and life, like a sherpa guiding me through it all.”
