KAAI celebrates Ensor year in Antwerp

This fall, the city of Antwerp is set to honor one of Belgium's greatest artistic icons, James Ensor, with four captivating exhibitions that explore his unique mastery of light and his lasting impact on modern art, fashion, and photography. Starting from September 28th, visitors and locals will have the chance to immerse themselves in the world of Ensor, as Antwerp unveils its rich cultural heritage through these exciting expositions.

As part of the celebration, 22 shop windows across the city have been transformed into artistic masterpieces, all crafted by talented local artists. These installations not only serve as a guide to the four exhibition venues but also turn Antwerp’s shopping district into a visual feast. Among these artistic windows is a stunning piece created for KAAI by the brilliant Antwerp-based artist, Lisa van der Auwera.

KAAI is thrilled to collaborate with Lisa for this occasion, as her vibrant artwork beautifully complements the brand’s ethos of combining art, fashion, and functionality.

Lisa van der Auwera, an emerging comic book artist and graduate of LUCA School of Arts, drew inspiration from Ensor’s famous work The Baths at Ostend to create a colorful, lively scene that mirrors both the energy of Ensor’s painting and the fall season’s rich hues. Her window painting is a perfect match for KAAI's Fall handbag collection, which features warm tones and sophisticated designs, making the storefront a must-visit for both art and fashion lovers.
